404 no Umi (Ocean404) Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Koyomi App Lab handles information in the Safari extension app “404 no Umi (Ocean404)” (the “App”).
The App turns “404 Not Found” pages into a small pixel-art seaside scene, where users can read letters found in drifting bottles or send their own short letters into the sea.
1. Information We Collect or Store
The App may collect or store the following information in order to provide its features:
- Anonymous ID
- Letter text submitted by users
- Information related to reported letters
- The time when a user picked up a letter
- The time when a user sent a letter
- Excluded domain settings, if configured by the user
The anonymous ID is used to provide basic features such as sending and receiving letters and preventing excessive use. It is not linked to information that directly identifies a person, such as name, email address, home address, or phone number.
2. Information Checked by the Safari Extension
To determine whether the current page is a 404 page, the App may check the following information when necessary:
- The URL of the currently opened page
- The page title
- Heading text on the page
- A limited portion of the page text
- The result of a HEAD request used to check the HTTP status
This information is used only to determine whether the App should display the seaside screen. The App is not intended to collect or store the user’s entire Safari browsing history.
3. Purpose of Use
Information collected or stored by the App is used for the following purposes:
- To detect 404 pages and display the seaside screen
- To retrieve and display letters found in bottles
- To send letters written by users to the server
- To receive and review reports of inappropriate letters
- To prevent repeated posting or excessive use
- To operate the App safely
4. About Letter Text
Letter text submitted through the App may be displayed to other users as a letter found in a drifting bottle when they encounter a 404 page.
Please do not include personal information or contact information in letters, such as your name, address, phone number, email address, social media account, or URLs.
Please also avoid posting content that harms others, harasses others, causes discomfort, or is illegal or inappropriate. The App is intended to be a small, calm detour for someone who has reached a missing page.
5. Reports
The App may provide a feature that allows users to report inappropriate letters.
Reported letter content and related information may be reviewed by the administrator. If necessary, the administrator may hide, delete, or otherwise handle the reported content.
6. Information Stored on the User’s Device
The App may store the following information on the user’s device:
- Anonymous ID
- The time when a user picked up a letter
- The time when a user sent a letter
- Excluded domain settings
This information is used for sending and receiving letters, managing cooldown times, and applying exclusion settings.
7. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
The App does not intentionally collect the following information:
- Name
- Email address
- Home address
- Phone number
- Precise location information
- Contacts
- Photos
- Payment information
- The user’s entire Safari browsing history
8. Sharing with Third Parties
The App does not provide collected information to third parties, except when required by law.
However, letter text submitted by users may be displayed to other users as part of the App’s core functionality. Please do not include personal information or anything you do not wish to make public in your letters.
9. Advertising and Payments
The App does not include advertisements, in-app purchases, or subscriptions.
The App does not conduct tracking for advertising purposes and does not provide information to third-party advertising services.
10. Links to External Pages
The App may include links, such as a shell icon on the beach, that open feature articles or related pages on Koyomi App Lab.
Please also review the policies or notices provided on those linked pages or on Koyomi App Lab as a whole for information about how data is handled there.
11. Information Management
Koyomi App Lab makes reasonable efforts to manage information handled by the App appropriately and to prevent unauthorized access, loss, alteration, leakage, or other issues.
